The Dhaka Times Desk অস্ত্রোপচারের মাধ্যমে এক ব্যক্তির কিডনি থেকে সবচেয়ে বড় পাথর অপসারণ করার মাধ্যমে বিশ্ব রেকর্ড গড়েছেন শ্রীলঙ্কার সেনাবাহিনীর একদল চিকিৎসক।
সংবাদ মাধ্যমের খবরে জানা যায়, ওই পাথরটি ১৩ দশমিক ৩৭২ সেন্টিমিটার লম্বা, এর ওজন ৮০১ গ্রাম। গত ১৩ জুন দেশটির সেনাবাহিনীর পক্ষ হতে দেওয়া এক বিবৃতিতে এই তথ্য জানানো হয়েছে।
ওই বিবৃতিতে বলা হয়, এ মাসের শুরুতে কলম্বো আর্মি হাসপাতালে অস্ত্রোপচারটি করা হয়েছে। অস্ত্রোপচারের মাধ্যমে কিডনি হতে পাথরটি অপসারণ করা হয়।
কলম্বো আর্মি হাসপাতালে জেনিটো ইউরিনারি ইউনিটের প্রধান লেফটেন্যান্ট কর্নেল কে সুতারশানের নেতৃত্বে এই অস্ত্রোপচার করা হয়। এই ইউরোলজিস্টের সঙ্গে অস্ত্রোপচারে অংশ নেন ক্যাপ্টেন ডব্লিউপিএসসি পাথিরাথনা এবং থামাশা প্রেমাথিলাকা।
শ্রীলঙ্কার সেনাবাহিনীর ওই বিবৃতিতে আরও বলা হয়, অস্ত্রোপচারের সময় অ্যানেসথেটিস্ট হিসেবে সহায়তা করেন কর্নেল ইউ এ এল ডি পেরেরা এবং কর্নেল সি এস আবেসিংহে।
শ্রীলঙ্কার সামরিক চিকিৎসকদের গড়া রেকর্ডটি নিশ্চিত করে গিনেস ওয়ার্ল্ড রেকর্ড কর্তৃপক্ষ। তারা বলেছে যে, ১ জুন কিডনি থেকে পাথরটি অপসারণ করা হয়েছে। পাথরটি লম্বায় ১৩ দশমিক ৩৭২ সেন্টিমিটার (৫ দশমিক ২৪৬ ইঞ্চি)।
উল্লেখ্য, কোনো ব্যক্তির কিডনি থেকে বৃহত্তম পাথর অপসারণের রেকর্ডটি পূর্বে ছিল ভারতীয় চিকিৎসকদের। ২০০৪ সালে তারা এই রেকর্ডটি করেন। ২০০৪ সালে ভারতীয় চিকিৎসকরা কিডনি থেকে যে পাথরটি অপসারণ করে রেকর্ড গড়েন তখন সেই পাথরটি ছিল ১৩ সেন্টিমিটার।
