April 22 morning-evening nationwide strike

BNP's organizing secretary and former member of parliament M Elias Ali disappeared mysteriously in the late night of April 17. BNP has become angry in this incident. The next day, April 18 morning, they continued the nationwide demonstration and protest rally. A morning-evening strike has been called on April 19 in four districts of Sylhet division. At the same time, BNP has called for morning-evening hartal and protest rallies across the country on April 22 if they fail to find Ilyas Ali. On the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, BNP leaders and activists clashed with law and order forces. During this time, there were incidents of burning and vandalizing of vehicles. BNP and its affiliates held an immediate protest march and rally in front of the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan in the capital.

Fakhrul said that the government has broken all past records of torture. This is not good for democracy. This can destroy democracy. Awami League government continued torture in the same way in 72-75. At that time, 36 thousand political leaders and activists were killed. He said that there were protests across the country due to the disappearance of Ilyas Ali. Sylhet has become immobile. People burst into protests.

Statement by law enforcement agencies

Law enforcement agencies said none of them arrested or detained M. Elias Ali. IGP Hasan Mahmud Khandkar told reporters that the police did not detain or arrest Ilyas Ali. It is being investigated whether miscreants have committed such an incident or not. Efforts are being made to rescue Ilyas Ali. On the other hand, RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Md. Sohail said that no one in RAB has arrested or detained Ilyas Ali. After receiving the complaint, rescue efforts are underway.

Ilyas Ali's wife's statement

On the morning of April 18, M Elias Ali's wife told reporters at her Banani residence that her husband left the house with two men on April 17 at around 9:30 pm. After that, there was no trace of him until late at night. Around 1.30 am, Banani police station recovered Elias Ali's abandoned car (Dhaka Metro-G-294415) from Banani 2nd Road and informed him.

After hearing the news, on the morning of April 18, leaders of various levels of BNP went to M. Elias Ali's house in Banani. At that time, the Acting General Secretary of BNP told the journalists that in the current political context, we think that M. Elias Ali has been removed by the government. If he is not returned immediately, a strict and continuous agitation program will be given. Mirza Fakhrul said that the incident of Ilyas Ali's disappearance is similar to Ward Commissioner Chowdhury Alam's and said, "There have been many cases of disappearances before." Chowdhury Alam has been missing for a long time. So we are taking the matter seriously. He said, we searched the houses of Elias Ali's relatives and friends. But I didn't find any. If leaders like Ilyas Ali go missing or disappeared, then politics will die in this country. We want it to end.

BNP organizing secretary M Ilyas Ali went missing after leaving his Banani residence on Tuesday night. In this incident, his wife Tahsina Rushdi Luna filed a general diary (GD-No.-403) at Banani police station at 8:20 am on Wednesday. Gulshan Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Khandkar Lutful Kabir told Jugantar that Tahsina, wife of BNP leader Ilyas Ali, mentioned in GD that they live as a family on the fifth floor of house number 3, Banani 2/1 road. Around 9:45 PM on Tuesday night, her husband Ilyas Ali left home in a Corolla brand private car with driver Ansar Ali (Dhaka Metro-G-29-4415). Banani police called her (Tahsina) at around 1.30 am and informed that an abandoned private car was found on the road in front of South Point School and College on Banani No. 2 road. Asked if the car was theirs, Tahsina confirmed that it was theirs.

Everyone needs to pay attention to prevent the recurrence of such disappearances. Because these cultures are not at all good for the politics of our country. Just as it is not right to blame the government for trivial reasons, the government should also bring all such incidents to the public through proper investigation. So that no one else becomes a victim of such an incident. Because this culture will appear as a curse for this nation in the near future.
