Yesterday (Tuesday-September 12) he said this while speaking as the chief guest at a program organized by BASIS at a hotel in the capital.

Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) chairman Mohammad Zainul Bari was present as a special guest and Sheikh Kabir Hossain, president of Bangladesh Insurance Association, was present as a guest of honour.

Basis President Russell T Ahmed presided over the event. BASIS Vice-President (Administration) Abu Dawood Khan delivered the welcome speech and Fida Haque, Co-Chairman of BASIS Standing Committee on Fintech and Digital Payments presented the keynote speech.

On the occasion, Planning Minister MA Mannan said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we have seen the visible development of the country in the last 15 years, which has brought a tide to the country's economy as a whole. Insurance services in India contribute much more to GDP than ours. We are still learning. I hope that insurance services will act as one of the regulators in the development of our economy. The current government is very generous in creating a business friendly environment. A sensitive sector like insurance services will be able to do business in this country with ease.”

IDRA Chairman Mohammad Zainul Bari said, "Insurance sector's contribution to GDP was 0.5 percent in 2021 which will remain at 0.5 percent till 2023. People have lost confidence in this sector due to limited public knowledge about insurance and non-receipt of insurance claims on time. The insurance sector has a lot of potential, so the use of technology can restore trust. To make insurance universal, the insurance sector needs to involve the banking sector as well as BASIS to build an eco-system along with automation.”

President of Bangladesh Insurance Association Sheikh Kabir Hossain said, “Insurance, Bangabandhu and freedom are closely related. Insurance sector is one of the most neglected sectors. Reliance on insurance company data and premiums is important when making budget proposals in developed countries. After Bangabandhu no one came forward with insurance that is why this sector is so neglected.” He urged Basis to propose policies to bring insurance under technology as well as to propose policies on how to change the negative social mindset about insurance.

On the occasion, Basis President Russell T Ahmed said, “Insurtech will play an important role in building Smart Citizen and Smart Society, one of the two pillars of Smart Bangladesh. ICT is important from the center to the edge of the country. To become a smart Bangladesh, it has to be smart in all areas and in this case ICT will act as a nucleus. People's confidence in insurance in this country is still very low, insurance companies need to create mass awareness about this." He also expressed optimism that the young generation of this country will be interested in working with insurtech and will bring new insurtech services. He also urged ICT and insurance organizations to work together on what kind of insurance is needed, what kind of technology is needed, how to motivate the new generation and how to increase the contribution of insurance to GDP.

It may be noted that the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority has recently issued regulatory sandbox guidelines to involve the information technology sector in insurance services. With the issuance of 'Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority Regulatory Sandbox Guidelines, 2023', a new horizon has started in the use of information technology in insurance services. Through this, currently one crore insurance customers of the country will get fast and effective insurance services and insuret companies will be able to provide technical assistance in the insurance sector. As a result, Insurtech will play an important role in building Smart Citizen and Smart Society, one of the two pillars of Smart Bangladesh. After all, there will be a positive growth in GDP as well. How to prevent dengue

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral fever. This fever is different from other viral or bacterial fevers. However, this fever is not contagious in any way. This viral fever can occur alone or in combination with other viruses (chikungunya, yellow fever, Burma forest, flu, respiratory syncytial) and bacteria (pneumococcus).

Dengue fever is divided into two categories depending on the severity of symptoms and fever.

1. Common dengue fever

2. Dengue fever with bleeding.

In the case of common dengue fever, the following symptoms are mainly seen-

1. Sudden high fever lasting 2 to 7 days.

2. Severe headache.

3. Pain behind the eyes.

4. Along with the fever, red rash appears all over the body.

5. Severe pain in whole body as well as back pain.

6. Nausea or vomiting.

7. A rash or red bumps on the skin.

In case of dengue fever with bleeding:

1. Bleeding from nose, mouth or vomiting with high fever within 2 to 48 hours.

2. Fluid accumulation in chest or abdomen along with fever.

If any of these symptoms appear, seek medical attention immediately.

On the other hand

Wait at home for the first 3 days of fever. On the other hand, sponge the whole body with water every now and then. This will reduce the level of fever. Drink enough water and rest. After that, if the fever does not decrease or if it continues to increase after some time, consult a doctor immediately.

Things to do to prevent Dengue:

1. Try to keep the surroundings of the house as clean as possible.

2. If there are flower tubs or broken plastic bottles, can shells, tires or polythene inside the house, clean them quickly and drain the accumulated water from the flower tubs.

3. Spray or fog at least 3 times a week to kill mosquitoes.

4. You can keep mosquito repellent cream with you while going out.

5. After evening, younger and older members of the household should use mosquito nets.

6. Clean up any accumulated rain water, as this is the time when Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs.

7. On the other hand, you can use mats along with mosquito nets to avoid mosquito infestation.

8. Since Aedes mosquitoes bite during the day, it is important to avoid sleeping with mosquito nets while sleeping during the day. Source: https://dmpnews.org
