The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) celebrated 25 years of establishment with a vow to build the future IT power of the country.
On Saturday evening at Greenville Outdoors, Madani Avenue in the capital city of Dhaka, the present presidents were honored by the founders of the Bangladesh dream and success pioneer accounting organization. On the occasion, its members pledged to take the country's IT sector many times higher.
At BASIS's 25th anniversary celebration, State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said, "Just as you have expectations from the Prime Minister, our expectation from BASIS is that you can earn 5 billion dollars in export earnings in the next 5 years." Today, IT and ITES sector has given employment to 3 lakh youth, we want to increase it to 10 lakh.
Expecting that the 2,400 members of BASIS will be able to earn 5 billion dollars in export income from the ICT sector, the state minister said that of course we will work together with you to make the IT and ITES sector free from corporate tax from 2024 to 2030. He said, at the same time, we want to bring foreign investment of 1 billion dollars in the same period.
The Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology also said, ICT, Telecom and BASIS, we are not separate parties; We all are friends and comrades working as a team for last 15 years. The government of honorable Prime Minister Jannetri Sheikh Hasina will continue the policy support given by the government for the development of our software industry and entrepreneurial culture.
Junaid Ahmed Palak said, 2,400 BASIS IT service providers and software development companies have created employment for hundreds of thousands of young people and the ICT sector is leading the export income of 1.9 billion dollars. Time for us to go further.
Japanese Ambassador Iwama Kiminri, Sri Lankan High Commissioner Dharmapala Birakkadi, US Embassy representatives, Kotra representatives, Australian High Commission representatives and thousands of BASIS members along with fellow trade association leaders were present at the event.

Russel T Ahmed added, We are proud that our organization has been able to play a leading role in promoting and expanding the quality of local software and IT services, access to international markets and digital development. That is why after the implementation of Digital Bangladesh, we are moving forward with the goal of realizing the dream of Smart Bangladesh. In this case, ICT is the nucleus of the vision of Smart Bangladesh. From agriculture sector, manufacturing sector, business to education, all these sectors need to ensure full use of software and IT services to become smart by 2041.
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid presented mementos to BASIS founder president MA Tauhid, former president Habibullah N Karim, AKM Fahim Mashroor, Shamim Ahsan and Mustafa Jabbar in the grand celebration of 25 years with music and dance. Ahmed Palak Basis former president SM Kamal, Rafiqul Islam Rawli, Mahbub Zaman and Syed Almas Kabir were honored with the award.
In the presence of honored guests, great instrumental music is played with bamboo, bowls and spoons. The Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak was also happy with the machinists.
It should be noted that BASIS started its journey as a national trade association of the IT sector with only 18 charter member organizations in 1998 with the aim of developing the dynamic software and IT services industry in the country. At present the number of members of BASIS is about 2 thousand 400.

How to prevent dengue
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral fever. This fever is different from other viral or bacterial fevers. However, this fever is not contagious in any way. This viral fever can occur alone or in combination with other viruses (chikungunya, yellow fever, Burma forest, flu, respiratory syncytial) and bacteria (pneumococcus).
Dengue fever is divided into two categories depending on the severity of symptoms and fever.
1. Common dengue fever
2. Dengue fever with bleeding.
In the case of common dengue fever, the following symptoms are mainly seen-
1. Sudden high fever lasting 2 to 7 days.
2. Severe headache.
3. Pain behind the eyes.
4. Along with the fever, red rash appears all over the body.
5. Severe pain in whole body as well as back pain.
6. Nausea or vomiting.
7. A rash or red bumps on the skin.
In case of dengue fever with bleeding:
1. Bleeding from nose, mouth or vomiting with high fever within 2 to 48 hours.
2. Fluid accumulation in chest or abdomen along with fever.
If any of these symptoms appear, seek medical attention immediately.
On the other hand
Wait at home for the first 3 days of fever. On the other hand, sponge the whole body with water every now and then. This will reduce the level of fever. Drink enough water and rest. After that, if the fever does not decrease or if it continues to increase after some time, consult a doctor immediately.
Things to do to prevent Dengue:
1. Try to keep the surroundings of the house as clean as possible.
2. If there are flower tubs or broken plastic bottles, can shells, tires or polythene inside the house, clean them quickly and drain the accumulated water from the flower tubs.
3. Spray or fog at least 3 times a week to kill mosquitoes.
4. You can keep mosquito repellent cream with you while going out.
5. After evening, younger and older members of the household should use mosquito nets.
6. Clean up any accumulated rain water, as this is the time when Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs.
7. On the other hand, you can use mats along with mosquito nets to avoid mosquito infestation.
