The Dhaka Times Desk European Union (EU) member states have approved the 13th package of sanctions against Russia due to its aggression in Ukraine. The sanctions will apply to 193 organizations and individuals involved in helping Moscow procure weapons and abducting Ukrainian children.
This information was reported in a report by the news agency Reuters on Wednesday (21 February). According to the report, EU members have also approved sanctions against Russia. Under this, sanctions will be imposed against around 200 individuals and institutions.
"EU ambassadors have agreed in principle to approve the 13th sanctions package under the framework of Russia's aggression in Ukraine," the EU's current president, Belgium, said on social media.
The new sanctions will add to the list of 193 individuals and organizations banned from working or traveling to EU countries, EU diplomatic sources said. These individuals and organizations cannot travel or conduct business in the European Union.
The new list of sanctions was created to target Russian military and defense forces and those involved in child abduction or trafficking in Ukraine. The list also includes one institution each from North Korea and Belarus.
Earlier, in March last year, the chief counsel of the International Criminal Court (ICC) said that Russia had removed hundreds of orphaned children from orphanages and care homes from the occupied territory of Ukraine. Many have also been adopted.
The ICC has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of abducting Ukrainian children. They have always referred to this as a war crime. However, Moscow has been denying this allegation. Their claim is that they have been evacuated from the battlefield to keep them safe. On the other hand, Ukraine's complaint is that Russia has removed more than 4,000 of their children.
The report also said that Russia's military procurement, especially the raw material supply network for manufacturing drones, is also being monitored. Already, 27 companies have been included under the Annex-IV ban. No European company can sell second-hand goods to these companies.
The source said 3 Chinese and 1 Hong Kong-based company were also on the sanctions list. Also almost all are Russian companies.
The sanctions package is expected to be officially approved on February 24, the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
It should be noted that the EU ambassadors have also renewed the sanctions that are already in place on about 2,000 individuals and companies in Russia for another 6 months.

How to prevent dengue

1. Bleeding from nose, mouth or vomiting with high fever within 2 to 48 hours.
2. Fluid accumulation in chest or abdomen along with fever.
If any of these symptoms appear, seek medical attention immediately.

Wait at home for the first 3 days of fever. On the other hand, sponge the whole body with water every now and then. This will reduce the level of fever. Drink enough water and rest. After that, if the fever does not decrease or if it continues to increase after some time, consult a doctor immediately.
Things to do to prevent Dengue:
1. Try to keep the surroundings of the house as clean as possible.
2. If there are flower tubs or broken plastic bottles, can shells, tires or polythene inside the house, clean them quickly and drain the accumulated water from the flower tubs.
3. Spray or fog at least 3 times a week to kill mosquitoes.
4. You can keep mosquito repellent cream with you while going out.
5. After evening, younger and older members of the household should use mosquito nets.
6. Clean up any accumulated rain water, as this is the time when Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs.
7. On the other hand, you can use mats along with mosquito nets to avoid mosquito infestation.
