The Dhaka Times Desk Export of Bangladeshi workers to Saudi Arabia has been stopped for a long time. But on Friday, a panel of the country's ministers urged the country's government to lift the ban on Bangladeshi workers.
On Friday, Arab News, a media based in Saudi Arabia, reported that the panel of ministers of that country has made a special request to the Saudi government to open up the labor market in Bangladesh. Arab News reports that Bangladesh has made significant progress in the export of workers, as Bangladesh currently has the capacity and manpower to export trained workers to Saudi Arabia, and the Saudi ministers also believe that Bangladesh can supply workers at a very affordable price.
Meanwhile, a special source said that in the first phase, Saudi Arabia will hire maids and drivers for domestic work.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh's labor ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Makammel Hossain told Arab News, "We have been waiting for this news for a long time, but the Saudi labor market has opened up for us, we are able to send more skilled and trained workers to Saudi Arabia."
According to sources, the Saudi government will hire workers from Bangladesh on the basis of demand, so the workers will have the opportunity to work on a weekly or hourly basis. Saudi Manpower Services Company will handle the entire recruitment process.
Saad Al-Badah, the head of Saudi Arabia's National Recruitment Committee, said, "Saudi Manpower Services Company has already recruited for the importation of workers. They have special experience in importing workers. They have previously recruited more than 6000 workers from India, the Philippines, Nepal, Cambodia and Vietnam. Imported male and female workers.”
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh called upon the Saudi government to open up the country's labor market for Bangladesh, while the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dipu Moni, visited Saudi Arabia from time to time and continued discussions with various ministers of that country.
Currently, there are 12 lakh 80 thousand Bangladeshi workers in Saudi Arabia. Earlier in 2008, the Saudi government suddenly stopped importing workers from Bangladesh. Before 2008, Saudi Arabia imported approximately 150,000 workers from Bangladesh every year.
