Mamata gave a letter to Modi in strong language about Bangladesh-India meeting

The Dhaka Times Desk During Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent visit to India, MoUs were signed and some announcements were made on several important issues between the two countries. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did not receive a call even though issues related to West Bengal including Teesta-Ganges water distribution were discussed there. Mamata has sent a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in strong language to protest about the matter.

বাংলাদেশ-ভারত বৈঠক নিয়ে মোদিকে কড়া ভাষায় চিঠি দিলেন মমতা 1

Mamata wrote in the letter, I am writing this letter in view of the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to Delhi. It seems that the distribution of Teesta and Ganga water was discussed during this important visit. Such unilateral negotiations without the advice and opinion of the State Government are neither acceptable nor desirable.

Mamata also wrote that the state has close ties with Bangladesh geographically, culturally and economically. I love and respect the people of Bangladesh and always wish them well. West Bengal has also cooperated with Bangladesh on various issues in the past. Bangladesh-India Chit Mahal exchange agreement, Indo-Bangladesh railway line apart from bus services are also milestones for economic development in the region.

On the water distribution agreement, Chief Minister Mamata wrote, Water is very precious and the lifeline of people. We cannot compromise on such a sensitive issue which has serious and adverse impact on the people. The people of West Bengal will suffer the most from the impact of such an agreement. I understand the Government of India is in the process of renewing the Indo-Bangladesh Farakka Agreement. Which expires in 2026. It is an agreement that outlines the principles of water sharing between Bangladesh and India.

Then in that letter Mamata wrote to Modi, You know, river water has a huge impact in sustaining the livelihood of the people of West Bengal. The diversion of water at the Farakka Barrage helps maintain the navigability of Kolkata's port. I would like to bring to your notice, the morphology of rivers in eastern India and Bangladesh has changed, which has deprived West Bengal and negatively affected the availability of water in the state. Eastward migration of the Ganges (Padma in Bangladesh) in the last 200 years has disrupted its connection with several rivers in West Bengal.

For example, he said, the Jalangi and Mathabhanga rivers have diverged from the Padma. After the signing of this agreement, the construction of the Farakka Barrage is likely to change the morphology of the river. Due to which the intensity of river erosion has increased and the barrage areas have faced serious loss of life and property including government infrastructure like schools, hospitals, health centers, power lines. Millions of people have become homeless and are losing their livelihoods. Construction of hydroelectric projects in Sikkim, deforestation of high wetlands and climate change have affected the health of the Teesta River.

Mamata also writes, I have written several times to draw your attention to these matters. Finally I convey to you my firm determination that there should be no discussion on the Teesta water sharing and the Farakka agreement. I hope you understand the needs and expectations of the people of West Bengal. Take necessary action accordingly.

The first Lok Sabha session of the Modi government, which came to power for the third time, began last Monday (June 24). Trinamool Congress MPs walked out of Parliament over the Teesta and Farakka accords before the session began.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited India last Friday. 7 new MoUs were signed during the visit. Also 3 renewed MoUs were signed. The tour also brought 10 announcements.

How to prevent dengue

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral fever. This fever is different from other viral or bacterial fevers. However, this fever is not contagious in any way. This viral fever can occur alone or in combination with other viruses (chikungunya, yellow fever, Burma forest, flu, respiratory syncytial) and bacteria (pneumococcus).

Dengue fever is divided into two categories depending on the severity of symptoms and fever.

1. Common dengue fever

2. Dengue fever with bleeding.

In the case of common dengue fever, the following symptoms are mainly seen-

1. Sudden high fever lasting 2 to 7 days.

2. Severe headache.

3. Pain behind the eyes.

4. Along with the fever, red rash appears all over the body.

5. Severe pain in whole body as well as back pain.

6. Nausea or vomiting.

7. A rash or red bumps on the skin.

In case of dengue fever with bleeding:

1. Bleeding from nose, mouth or vomiting with high fever within 2 to 48 hours.

2. Fluid accumulation in chest or abdomen along with fever.

If any of these symptoms appear, seek medical attention immediately.

On the other hand

Wait at home for the first 3 days of fever. On the other hand, sponge the whole body with water every now and then. This will reduce the level of fever. Drink enough water and rest. After that, if the fever does not decrease or if it continues to increase after some time, consult a doctor immediately.

Things to do to prevent Dengue:

1. Try to keep the surroundings of the house as clean as possible.

2. If there are flower tubs or broken plastic bottles, can shells, tires or polythene inside the house, clean them quickly and drain the accumulated water from the flower tubs.

3. Spray or fog at least 3 times a week to kill mosquitoes.

4. You can keep mosquito repellent cream with you while going out.

5. After evening, younger and older members of the household should use mosquito nets.

6. Clean up any accumulated rain water, as this is the time when Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs.

7. On the other hand, you can use mats along with mosquito nets to avoid mosquito infestation.

8. Since Aedes mosquitoes bite during the day, it is important to avoid sleeping with mosquito nets while sleeping during the day. Source: https://dmpnews.org
