Due to the high price of onion, the government took several steps. These include reduction of shulphar, sale of onion through TCB etc. But the price of 40 rupees onion has increased to 100 rupees now.

TCB has started selling 5 kg of onion per person at the rate of Tk 47 per kg, the onion which went up to Tk 80 at that time has come down to Tk 60/65.

In the last one week, the price of onion increased to 100 rupees. Meanwhile, it is known that new Indian onions are coming to the country at much lower prices. There are 150 containers full of onions on the way from Pakistan. Onions from Myanmar are also coming directly from Teknaf to Dhaka. Traders are coming soon onion price will be normal.

The Ministry of Commerce said that it is only a matter of time for the price of onion to come down. Those who have raised prices or are planning to raise them further are making a mistake.

Meanwhile, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has decided to sell onions at Tk 65 per kg from Saturday, which has seen an unusual increase in onion prices.

It should be noted that according to TCB statistics, onions were sold at the price of Tk 70 to Tk 100 per kg before Eid. Immediately after the Eid holiday, traders increased the price by Tk 15 to Tk 20 per kg. Onion was sold for four days from October 26 to 29 at Tk 90 to Tk 110 per kg. The Commerce Secretary believes that the businessmen took advantage of the strike to do this unreasonable thing.
