Banglawash again, New Zealand again, Tigers made history. Chasing 307 runs against New Zealand, Naim's 63, Shamsur's 96 and Nasir's 44 at the last moment made Bangladesh score 309 with 4 balls to spare.
After winning the toss in the morning, Mashrafe and Rubel of the new ball started to strengthen their base by playing very easily, the two opening batsmen of New Zealand, Alton Devcich and Tom Latham. They added 66 runs to the opening pair. Mahmudullah gave the team a break through by turning Devcich into Razzak's catch. After that, 3 wickets fell quickly for 101 runs, but Ross Taylor and Colin Munro made a pair of 130 runs between themselves to give New Zealand a solid foundation.
Munro played a great innings of 85 runs in 77 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Mahmudullah got the breakthrough again by turning him into a catch by Mushfiq. However, standing on the other side, Taylor threw a tantrum at the last moment. Sohag Ghazi hit three consecutive sixes in one over and scored an unbeaten 107 off 93 balls. He brought the team a huge collection of 307 runs.
Rubel, Gazi and Razzaq took one wicket each and Mahmudullah took two wickets.
Ziaur Rahman and Shamsur Rahman started batting in line with the run rate. The two opening batsmen brought the team to a stormy collection of 61 runs in just eight overs. Zia got out after scoring 22 runs off 20 balls but Shamsur Rahman was ruling the Kiwi bowlers at the other end. Mominul gave him worthy support by scoring 32 runs from 33 balls. After Mominul, the captain Mushfiq returned quickly, but like the first match, Naeem Islam was on fire again with the bat.
Naim put on an effective 75-run partnership with Shamsur that knocked the Kiwis out of the match. Shamsur, who was hoping for a century, departed in the trap of a nervous nineteen after playing an extraordinary innings of 96 runs in the second match of his career. Despite Shamsu's departure, Naim's cool-headed 63 and Nasir's timely 44 took Bangladesh to a 309-run win in 49.2 overs. The winning run, however, came from Sohag Gazi, the wonder of this Test series. 49.2 balls to make New Zealand a mystery for Bangladesh! Bangladesh undefeated against New Zealand since 2010!
Shamsur Rahman was selected as the man of the match for playing a winning innings of 96 runs. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim was Man of the Series.
