The Dhaka Times Desk Workers' discontent has arisen again in Savar demanding salary hike. There was a clash with the police this morning.
On Wednesday morning, the workers of Standard Garment located in Rishipara area of Hemayetpur tried to block the Hemayetpur-Singra road. The police came and dispersed them. Seeing the situation, the factory authorities called for a holiday.
On the other hand, workers in Soudan, Radian and Muscat factories in Jirabo area of Ashulia are on strike without attending work, demanding salary increase. Besides, around 8 am, the workers of Standard Gamarnt first tried to block the road. Later, the police retreated in the face of obstacles.
It is known that when the workers came to the factory on Wednesday morning, the owner announced that they would not accept the salary fixed by the wage board of Tk 5,300. At that time, the factory authorities said that they will be able to pay a salary of 4,500 taka. The workers protested against this and went on strike.
Ashulia Industrial Area Police SI Gazi Abdul Qayyum said the situation is under control. Police security has been increased in the factories.
