A case has been filed against the arrested 5 leaders for burning the bus and attacking the police

The Dhaka Times Desk 5 people including 3 members of local committee of BNP were arrested last night. A case has been filed against the arrested accused of burning a bus and attacking the police in Kamalapur.

Barrister Maudud Ahmed, Barrister Rafiqul Islama Bhuiyan and MK Aywar were arrested and taken to the metropolitan DB office by detective police on their way back from Sonargaon Hotel after attending Prothom Alo's founding anniversary event. Later in the night, Chairperson's Advisor Abdul Awal Mintu and Special Assistant Advocate Shimul Biswas came to the residence of opposition leader Begum Khaleda Zia in Gulshan. They were also detained after leaving Khaleda Zia's residence.

Although they were arrested yesterday, no specific charges have been filed against them. A case has been filed against the arrested senior leaders of BNP on charges of burning buses in Motijheel and attacking the police in Kamalapur. Their arrest was shown in that case. They are scheduled to appear in court on Saturday. Besides, last night, the police searched the residences of about 11 senior leaders, including acting general secretary of the party, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy. But none of them could be arrested.

It is to be noted that the case was filed against the police after a 60-hour hartal from October 27 called by the non-partisan government for setting fire to a bus in Motijheel and attacking the police in a mass gathering in Kamalapur area.
