The Dhaka Times Desk Nowhere is safe from miscreants – be it a deserted road or an ATM booth. A miscreant hacked a 44-year-old woman with a chapati at an ATM booth in Bengaluru, India on Tuesday. The attack was caught on the CCTV camera inside the ATM booth.

According to police, the elderly woman, manager of Corporation Bank, went to an ATM booth around 7:30 am to withdraw money, when the miscreant followed her into the ATM booth. The stalker pulled down the shutters of the ATM booth before threatening and hitting him. The man first threatened the woman with something like a pistol from a bag on his shoulder, then pushed the woman down and hit her with a chapati.
The elderly woman screamed for help twice, but due to the absence of security guards there was no help and she lost consciousness due to the severity of the injuries.
The assailant took the woman's bag and mobile and closed the shutters of the booth, the most shocking thing is that the man cleaned his chapati with the woman's napkin and the woman lay there unconscious for several hours. The woman was discovered there and rushed to a nearby hospital after two schoolboys saw blood seeping from under the shutters.
Doctors at the Bangalore hospital said that the victim suffered a laceration on the head, partial paralysis of the right side of the body and brain injury. However, he is out of danger - he will recover within a few months - said the doctor on duty.
According to Bengaluru police, the assailant took the bag with cash, mobile phone, and credit cards, but the miscreant did not take the woman's neck chain, bangles and other wearable jewelry.
The identity of the attacker was clearly captured on the ATM booth's CCTV camera, but no arrests or identification have been made so far - but police said efforts are on to nab the miscreant.
