The Dhaka Times Desk Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos has banned Islam in the country to crack down on Muslim extremists. Along with that, he also ordered to demolish the mosque until further orders. Through this, Angola is going to emerge as the first country in history to ban Islam.
Angola's Minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz, said in a press release, "Islam does not go well with various human rights issues, the mosque will be closed." However, the Angolan government has already ordered the demolition of the mosque.
He added, 'His government is determined to ban anything that does not go with Angolan society and culture. Their own culture will be the first priority for them. We have more such ban lists. All will be implemented gradually. It is now forbidden to preach Islam in this country. From now on, no Islamic influence will prevail.”
It should be noted that since the attack of Muslims on non-Muslims in 2008, anti-Islamic sentiments have become evident in the country. Angola is a Christian country. About 16 million Christians live in the country. Where the number of Muslims is only 80 to 90 thousand.
