The Dhaka Times Desk A historical movie is a movie based on an event or character in history. These movies often contain a lot of historical inaccuracies. Let's take a look at ten such historical inaccuracy movies.

1. Braveheart: বিখ্যাত পরিচালক মেল গিবসের ঐতিহাসিক মুভি ব্রেভহার্টে দেখা যায় স্কটিশরা চেক – কাটা পশমী কাপড়ের কুঁচি দেওয়া ঘাগরা পরিধান করে আছেন। কিন্তু সত্য ব্যাপার হচ্ছে মুভিতে যে সময় দেখানো হয়েছে, সেই সময়ে ওই ধরনের পোশাক আবিষ্কৃত হয়নি, আরো ৩০০ বছর পরে আবিষ্কৃত হয়। বাস্তবে ওইসময় স্কটিশরা উলের পোষাক পড়তেন।

2. Pocahontas:

The movie depicts the love affair of British-born John Smith with the female character Pocahontas. The truth of this event is not found in real history. She was kidnapped at the age of 11, after which she converted to Christianity and married the latter to a tobacco exporter.

3. Battle of the Bulge:

The movie features cold Belgium as a complement to temperate Spain. Again the use of modern tanks is also shown. Later President Eisenhower held a press conference criticizing these scenes.

4. Bonnie & Clyde:
Speaking of history – Ranger Frank Hammer kills a pair of outlaws named Bonnie and Clyde in an ambush. But the movie shows them arrested and later released on legal grounds.

5. Birdman of Alcatraz:

The movie features a poignant portrayal by Robert Stroud. But in fact this notorious criminal was not so beautiful minded. He beat to death a fellow fisherman and liked child pornography. Not showing these in the movie is a historical mistake.

6. U – 571:

The British Prime Minister strongly reacted to the movie, saying that the movie insulted British soldiers. The movie showed that American soldiers were more able to break codes in WW2 than British soldiers. The reality is – there is no historical truth to this.

7. A Beautiful Mind:

The movie depicts some of the early life events of John Nash where the brilliant student Nash eventually becomes a schizophrenic patient. His hallucinations were more auditory than visual. The fact that he had a son is omitted in the movie, and the dramatic speech he gives on receiving the Nobel Prize never actually happened.

8. The Social Network:

The movie depicts the dinner scam that inspired Zuckerberg to open Facebook. But the truth is that Zuckerberg was dating his current wife before the advent of Facebook.

9. The birth Of A Nation:

Africans and Americans are portrayed as sexually aggressive and reckless in this movie. The Ku Klux Klan is also portrayed as a heroic force in the movie. Historically, both things have been considered untrue.

10. The Patriot:

স্বাধীনতার যুদ্ধ নিয়ে নির্মিত এই মুভিতে দেখানো হয় ব্রিটিশরা একটি চার্চ পুড়িয়ে দেয় যার ভিতরে অনেক আমেরিকান ছিলো। ঐতিহাসিক সত্যতা হচ্ছে এরকম ঘটনা ঘটেছিলো মাত্র একটি – যা হচ্ছে নাজি কর্তৃক নারী এবং শিশুসহ ফ্রান্সের একটি চার্চ পুড়িয়ে দেওয়ার ঘটনা।
