The Dhaka Times Desk Former Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir will be elected unopposed as the only candidate in the 10th National Assembly elections yesterday.
Yesterday was the nomination filing day across the country. 1113 nominations have been submitted for 300 seats across the country. Out of this only one nomination has been submitted in Chandpur-1 Constituency (Kachua). And that is the nomination of former Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir. No other candidates submitted nominations for this seat. And as such he is going to be elected unopposed.
It should be noted that although the main opposition party boycotted the election, more than one Awami League candidate submitted nominations in each constituency. Chandpur-1 constituency is the only exception.
Former BNP MP in Pirojpur-3 (Mathbaria) constituency in the 10th National Parliament election. Rustam Ali Faraji has submitted nomination papers as an independent candidate. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) yesterday at 3 o'clock on Monday
And his wife Khadija Begum has submitted nomination papers on his behalf in the Assistant Returning Officer's office. Rastam Ali Faraji was an MP of BNP in the 8th National Parliament.
