Death of sleeping helper and truck driver: Many are still fighting with death

The Dhaka Times Desk During the siege on Thursday, the sleeping helper of the burnt vehicle and another truck driver died on Friday morning. On the other hand, many people are still fighting with death in Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Truck driver Mehdi Hasan, who was burnt in Faripur during the blockade on November 30, died this morning.
Over 50 people have been killed and many injured so far in the last 2 weeks of siege. Common people are the most affected by the blockade. These people are coming out of their homes in urgent need of livelihood and are being subjected to the violence of the siege.

Another person was burnt to death in the fire set by miscreants on Thursday. His name is Hasan. Only 16 years old. He is a bus helper. Hasan was sleeping yesterday in a bus named Ishrat Paribahan parked at Janpath intersection in the capital's Sayedabad. Miscreants hurled petrol bombs and set fire to the bus around 9 am. Hasan's whole body was burnt in the fire. He was rescued and admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. 90 percent of Hasan's body was burnt in that incident. He was kept unconscious in the ICCU department. He died under treatment around 7 pm. Hasan joined the bus as a helper the previous day on Wednesday. It is learned that the bus was parked at the Janpath intersection for a week due to the blockade. And Hasan was sleeping in that bus. But no one knew that it would be his last sleep. Our society and politicians do not know how many more people have to die like Hasan.

Meanwhile, there was widespread violence in different parts of the country yesterday. The 18-party alliance led by BNP has again announced a 72-hour blockade program from Saturday. On the other hand, the government has made all preparations for the elections. The people of the country are disoriented in such a state of war. Common people do not sleep about what will happen or not. Communication with the capital is severed throughout the country. Even if the bus was stopped, one could rely on the train for urgent needs. But that route is also closed due to recent train vandalism. People are still hoping for a peaceful solution. No one knows when the breath of peace will blow.
