Nationwide morning-evening Jamaat strike call tomorrow Monday!

The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has called a morning-evening hartal across the country on Monday to protest against the death warrant of Jamaat leader Quader Molla, who was sentenced to death for crimes against humanity.

রোববার সন্ধ্যায় দলের ভারপ্রাপ্ত সেক্রেটারি জেনারেল ডা. শফিকুর রহমান এক বিবৃতিতে এই হরতালের ডাক দেন। তিনি বিবৃতিতে বলেন, “জামায়াতে ইসলামীর সহকারী সেক্রেটারি জেনারেল আব্দুল কাদের মোল্লার ফাঁসির দণ্ড কার্যকর করতে তার মৃত্যু পরোয়ানা জারি করা এবং কার্যকর করা হলে এটি হবে একটি রাজনৈতিক হত্যাকান্ড। এই মৃত্যু পরোয়ানা দায়েরের প্রতিবাদে আগামী কাল সোমবার সারাদেশে সকাল সন্ধ্যা হরতাল পালিত হবে।”

In the meantime, there have been reports of vandalism in various parts of the country, including Dhaka, on the call of the strike called by the Jamaat on Monday. Clashes between Jamaat workers and police were reported in Vijayanagar at around 9 pm, where cocktails were hurled at the police.

Cocktails were also thrown in front of Rupsa Community Center on Green Road in the capital and a pedestrian was injured there. Also, a pickup van is set on fire in Tongi, and 4 cocktails are cracked in quick succession!

The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam party, whose registration was recently canceled due to anti-humanity activities in 1971, fears that the death sentence of Jamaat leader Quader Mollah, accused of anti-humanity activities in 1971, may be implemented at any time.
