The Dhaka Times Desk The much-discussed 10th National Assembly election was completed yesterday, January 5. However, at least 25 people had to die for this.

It is reported that at least 25 people have been killed in violence across the country centered on preventing yesterday's 10th National Assembly elections. Hundreds of leaders and workers of 18 groups were injured. It can be seen that at least 25 people were killed in the firing of the law enforcement forces and the clashes between the leaders and activists of the government party and the leaders and activists of 18 parties from Saturday night to yesterday Sunday afternoon. Most of the dead are BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists. Besides, an Ansar member, Awami League worker and passerby also died in the violence.

# Lalmonirhat, Svechasevak Dal leader Farooq Hossain was killed in a clash with Awami League activists.

# Two Jamaat workers named Hadiuzzaman and Mirazul Islam were killed in police firing last night in Pirgachay Upazila of Rangpur.

# A truck driver named Nuruzzaman died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after being burnt by a petrol bomb thrown by miscreants on a moving truck in Gazipur.

# Nilphamari's Dimlar Chapani, Jaldhaka and Sonapur 4 people were killed in police firing when polling booths were set on fire. The deceased are Jahangir Hossain and assistant teacher Mumtaz Uddin (40). The identity of the other two deceased could not be confirmed.

# A Chhatra Dal leader named Konkan Mia drowned in Shimulia Primary School in Tongibari Upazila of Munshiganj after being chased by the police.

# Two Juba Dal activists Jamshed Alam and Shahidullah were killed in a clash with Jubo League in Sonagazi, Feni.

# 4 people including Ansar members were killed in clashes at North Salanda and Gobindpur polling stations of Parvatipur, Dinajpur. The deceased are Ansar member Abdul Waheed and Yuba Jagpa general secretary Raihan Masood (35), Yuba Dal worker Chunnu and school student Salahuddin.

# Camp activist Rubel was killed in police firing at Machimpur center in Ramganj, Lakshmipur.

# BNP worker Abul Bashar was killed in police firing at Manda in Naogaon.

# A Jamaat worker named Matiar Rahman was killed in police firing at Manirampur, Jessore.

# Md. Saiful Islam (30) died on the spot when a truck lost control and crushed some pedestrians while chasing strikers in Begamganj, Noakhali.

# Jamaat activist Sahabul was killed in police firing in Sundarganj, Gaibandha.

# Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Basudebpur Government Primary School, Basudebpur Government Primary School, two BNP workers named Zainal Abedin and Harun Or Rashid were killed on the spot by police firing on the spot. On the other hand, a BNP worker named Abu Hanif was killed in a clash between Awami League and BNP in Gopalpur village of Shimuldangi Gopalpur village of Perjeya union of the upazila.
