According to the rules of the parliament, there should be an opposition party along with the government party in the parliament. Since there is no BNP, the Jatiya Party is coming in the opposition role in this election. But there is doubt as to who will be the Leader of the Opposition.
The main reason for this doubt is H. M. Ershad. He announced his withdrawal from the election but was elected. Got 33 seats. But whether he will actually take the oath is doubtful. And so Roshan is being considered as an alternative. If Ershad does not take oath or obey the election, then Roshan Ershad can become the leader of the opposition party - this is heard.
On the other hand, many people including Ershad's brother GM Quader will be in the cabinet if the Prime Minister calls for a government of national unity. The sources of the party are saying that the elected 33 members of Parliament of Jatiya Party will take oath in due course. However, the Deputy Leader of the Opposition has not yet been decided. When asked whether the elected members of the Jatiya Party will take oath, who is the leader of the main opposition party, the party's general secretary ABM Ruhul Amin Howladar said that the party is united under the leadership of Hussain Muhammad Ershad. The party members have won the people's vote. The oath will be taken after discussing with the party chairman. Who will be the leader of the opposition in the party will be decided after discussion with the chairman of the party.
Ruhul Amin Howladar said that even if the election is over due to unusual circumstances, Awami League should sit at the same table with BNP to overcome the crisis. Apart from campaigning, he expressed his gratitude to the people of Patuakhali-1 constituency for making him the winner. When asked whether he would take the oath, the JPA general secretary said that it is difficult to ignore people's expectations. When will Ershad return home - In response, JPA General Secretary said, he is incarcerated. I am going to visit the hospital. Presidium member of the party, Advocate Kazi Feroz Rashid, who won from Dhaka-6 constituency, told the reporter that Begum Roshan Ershad will be the leader of the opposition in the 10th Parliament. Jatiya Party's newly elected MPs have agreed to elect Roshan Ershad as the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. The matter will be officially announced through a press conference in a day or two. Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, the presidium member of the party and the minister of the election government, also gave a similar statement. He said that the Jatiya Party will take effective steps in the 10th National Assembly to establish democracy and achieve economic prosperity.
It should be noted that 21 people won unopposed from Jatiya Party. And 12 people won through the ballot on January 5. This time the number of seats of the Jatiya Party in the 10th National Parliament is 33.
