The Dhaka Times Desk Deputy Inspector (SI) Wahid of Mirpur Rupnagar police station has been suspended for slapping Sohag Gazi, the current star player of Bangladesh national team.
Around 3 pm local time on Thursday, Sub Inspector (SI) Wahid got into an argument with Sohag Gazi over parking on Road No. 7 of Rupnagar residential area and at one point slapped Sohag Gazi. has been dismissed.
Earlier Sub-Inspector (SI) Wahid and Sub-Inspector (SI) Main were patrolling Rupnagar area in a white car, while Sub-Inspector (SI) Wahid wanted to park the police car in front of Sohag Gazi's house on road number 7 but Sohag Gazi's personal car was parked there. was parked, as a result of which the police car was honking repeatedly, after a while Sub Inspector (SI) Wahid got down from the car and threatened the driver of Sohag Gazi's car and tried to pick him up in the car when Sohag Gazi came out of the house and stopped him. Sohag also threatened Gazi with arrest and at one point Sohag tried to pick up Gazi in a police car. When Sohag Gazi did not get in the car, Wahid slapped Sohag Gazi.
However, after slapping him, when he recognizes Sohag Gazi, he folds his hands and apologizes. When Rupnagar police station came to know about the incident, Sub Inspector (SI) Wahid was immediately dismissed from the police station.
Meanwhile, Rupnagar Police Station Acting OC Shamim Shikder told the media, "Actually, action has been taken against Sub Inspector (SI) Wahid Sohag Gazi by slapping him unfairly."
Sohag Gazi said about this, "I was humiliated that they misbehaved with me and my driver even after knowing my identity."
