Meanwhile, he has taken nomination papers to contest in the by-elections in the Rangpur-6 seat vacated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It is also known that nomination papers have been collected from Rangpur on Monday.
Rangpur District Awami League Vice President Chayadat Hossain Bakul and Upazila Awami League President Motaharul Haque Bablu collected nomination papers on behalf of Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury from the Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer of that constituency. Leaders and activists of upazila Awami League and affiliated organizations were present at this time.
The election commission announced the by-election schedule for Rangpur-6 seat last Sunday. After the commencement of the first session of the 10th National Parliament, voting will be held in Rangpur-6 (Peerganj) constituency on February 20.
In that case, it is heard that former Law Minister Abdul Matin Khosru may be seen as Speaker. However, there are various discussions between the ruling party about this. In the end, if Mateen Khosrow is not made the speaker, someone else can come to this position. In addition, many names including the current Deputy Speaker Colonel (Retd.) Shaukat Ali, Sagufta Yasmeen Emily are being heard for the post of Speaker.
