The Dhaka Times Desk Grieving Benapole residents bid farewell to the 7 children who died after falling into a bus ditch in Chougacha, Jessore. A shadow of mourning fell over the country in that incident. Mourning will be observed in all primary schools across the country today.
The bodies of 7 students of Benapole Government Primary School were buried yesterday on Sunday. There was mourning in the whole area yesterday. Hundreds of people rushed to the homes of the slain children. Although death is a systematic issue of people, no one can accept this kind of death.
Meanwhile, 14 students injured in Saturday's road accident have been admitted to Jessore Combined Military Hospital for advanced treatment. The condition of two of them is said to be critical.

The Minister of Primary and Mass Education said that instructions have already been sent to all primary schools in the country to express their condolences and pray for the victims while singing the national anthem before classes begin. On the other hand, Benapole Municipality has announced three days of mourning in this incident.
It is to be noted that the bus met with an accident on Saturday night while returning from Mujibnagar in Meherpur after having a picnic. The bus lost control and overturned in a nearby ditch as the road was slippery due to rain and trees left to build a bridge. 7 students died on the spot. The deceased are Zeba Khatun (8), a third class student and Suraiya (11), daughter of Syed Hossain, a fifth class student. The others who died were Sanjida (11), Runa (10), Ankhi (11), Shanta (11) and Sabbir (10). 5 out of 7 people who died are from Chhota Achhra village. Other houses are also near Benapole.
