The Dhaka Times Desk The schedule of reserved women's seats of the 10th National Parliament will be announced on Sunday.
It is known that 50 MPs from the reserved women's seats will be divided into three separate alliances in the Jatiya Sangsad this time.
Apart from the ruling party and the opposition parties, independent alliances are getting the share of reserved women's seats in the parliament for the first time. This independent alliance led by Haji Mohammad Selim will contest for reserved seats for women.
It is reported that the coalition led by the ruling party Awami League will get 41 of the 50 reserved seats for women, the main opposition party Jatiya Party will get 6 seats and the alliance of 16 independent parliamentarians will get the remaining 3 seats for women.
The Election Commission told the media that the list of reserved seats for women will be sent from the Election Commission (EC) to the National Parliament Secretariat on Sunday morning according to the proportional rate of the number of seats of the government party, opposition party and independent alliance.
At this time it will be drawn for public viewing at the EC Secretariat. After that, the election schedule for reserved women seats will be announced at noon.
According to EC sources, polling will be held on March 29 as per the schedule. After the announcement of the schedule, the party nominated candidates can submit their nomination papers for the reserved women's seats till March 4. Scrutiny will be held on March 6. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till March 12.
