The Dhaka Times Desk Two accused drivers, Zakaria and Raihan, who were arrested in the case of movie-style kidnapping of the accused, have given important information to the police.
JMB members and drivers Zakaria and Raihan have given the police the names and identities of the three JMB members sentenced to death and life imprisonment in a commando-style attack at Trishal. They even told the law and order forces about JMB's tactics and various shocking information. Currently, Zakaria and Raihan are in police remand.
Police sources said Farooq was released from Kashimpur jail on bail in 2012. Earlier he had promised jailed JMB leaders Salahuddin and Zahidul Islam alias Boma Mizan to take them out in the style of Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) militants. And accordingly they started the main plan of robbery from July 2013.
The arrested accused also told the police that he did not believe in the soft policy of jailed JMB chief Maulana Saidur. After being released on bail, Farooq reunited the 'Mujahids' in different parts of the country. On February 20, Hafeez Mahmood alias Rakib Hasan was produced in court in a case. JMB Ehsa member Manik delivered a new mobile set with a SIM there. Rakib then tied it to his private parts and took him to prison. On February 15, the militants met in the capital's Banani Bazar and divided the responsibilities of Operation Trishal. Shafiq, a member of Ehsa JMB, presented the main plan of this meeting.
Zakaria was brought to Dhaka from Tangail on Monday for questioning. A high-level team of detective police interrogated him intensively. A responsible police officer involved in the investigation told the media that just three days before the abduction of the 3 militants, a team of the JMB conducted a drill on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on February 20. The police have learned that at least 12 JMB members including Farooq, Milan, Shafiq, Zakaria, Sabuj, Manik, Sajedur, Majid are among those who participated in Operation Trishal.
This information has come out in the investigation of many details of mobile phone communication between Farooq, the main planner of the terrorist robbery, and the three top terrorists in jail.
Zakaria told the detectives that three militants were snatched and taken in a microbus within ten minutes on the day of the incident. Three militants abducted in a microbus are decapitated. Rakib also got hurt in his hand while cutting the pole. After Zakaria's arrest, raids were conducted at his residence and a list of militants in various parts of the country was found.
According to Zakaria, there are currently at least 30 JMB members active across the country outside prisons. They planned to abduct 3 militants by ignoring the current proclaimed Amir of JMB, Maulana Saidur. He also said that after the success of 'Operation Trishal', Rakib was given Tk 20,000 in cash. Similarly, Zakaria said that 15,000 to 20,000 taka was paid to all the militants in the microbus.
The police is hoping that action will be taken after verifying the information received from these militants.
