Controversy over women smoking openly at Mirpur Stadium [VIDEO]

The Dhaka Times Desk A woman smoker while watching the game at Mirpur Stadium started a criticism.

Everyone is enjoying the game of cricket. But going to the stadium and smoking openly like this is almost rare in the history of Bangladesh. Because smoking in public is a punishable offense according to the laws of Bangladesh. Still, no one can accept that a female smoker would smoke in public like this. The matter came to light on February 2, during the Pakistan vs India Asia Cup match at the Mirpur Sherebangla Stadium.

The young women of our country are also getting addicted to various drugs including smoking in recent times. This does not bode well for our nation either.

There is a lot of writing about this issue in various newspapers and magazines. Many people say that many people may not know that public smoking is prohibited in Bangladesh. Because there is absolutely no official propaganda on radio-TV. And so this issue still remains outside the law. Not only women but also men are seen smoking in public.

This report is for the purpose of informing everyone that smoking in public is a punishable offense according to the laws of Bangladesh. Not to belittle any woman.

It should be noted that recently a minister of the current government was in a state of extreme embarrassment by smoking openly in an event. He later apologized.
