Garment workers-police clash Bus service stopped on Mirpur route

The Dhaka Times Desk Police clashed with garment workers in the capital's Mirpur. As a result, bus services are stopped on all routes in Mirpur area.

It is known that after the announcement of the closure of the Softex garment factory in Mirpur, the workers started protesting for their salary since morning. Because of this, around 11 am, there was a chase between the police and the workers and the incident of throwing bricks and stones.

This Saturday morning, the workers started protesting on the road in front of the factory demanding 3 months salary. Later the police came and chased the workers. Clashes broke out when the workers threw bricks and stones at the police. 2 armored police vehicles reached the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. At that time, when the angry workers vandalized a few vehicles of Bihang, Silkcity Paribahan plying on the Pallabi-Gulistan route, bus services were stopped on almost all the routes in that area. At present the situation is somewhat normal.

It is to be noted that the workers protested on the same demand on Friday. The workers have claimed that the situation has arisen due to the owner shutting down the factory without paying the wages.
