The Dhaka Times Desk The Delhi High Court upheld the death sentence of 4 rapists in the sensational India bus gang rape case.
On December 16, 2012 in New Delhi, India, the court of that country sentenced 4 rapists Mukesh, Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma to death for gang rape and later death of a medical student in a moving bus. The Delhi High Court upheld the punishment when the defendant appealed to the High Court against that order.
Note that the medical student was gang-raped inside a moving bus. He was later left on the side of the road and died. This incident started uproar all over the world including India. Last year on September 13, 2013, the court sentenced the four accused rapists to death. Human rights organizations have expressed satisfaction that the High Court upheld the ruling yesterday and confirmed the rule of law.
