Pakistan got off to a great start with the bats of two openers Kamran Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad. These two cricketers gave Pakistan a base of 43 runs for the first wicket. However, Pakistan's opening pair was broken when Abdur Razzaq took Kamran's wicket. Later, Shehzad and Hafeez scored 27 runs and Bangladesh was under pressure again.

Bangladesh faced a batting disaster early on in chasing Pakistan's huge runs. Tamim Iqbal failed in this match like Barbar, he was bowled by Omar Gul for a personal 16 runs. After that, the in-form Enamul Haque Vijay was sent back to the pavilion by Sajid Ajmal for 18 runs. Shakib Al Hasan, who changed the batting order to play at number three, however, played somewhat cautiously and scored 38 runs from 32 balls. Shakib is out by Omar Gul.
