3 people were burnt in a gas cylinder explosion at Kamrangirchar in the capital on Saturday. They were admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. They died while undergoing treatment. The deceased are one-and-a-half-year-old child Alif, his mother Jolly Begum (28) and grandmother Akalima Begum (54).
At around 11:30 on Saturday, a gas cylinder suddenly exploded with a loud noise while cooking on a gas stove at his home in Kamrangichar Mujibarghat area. The above 3 people were burnt. Alif's mother Jolly Akhtar and Nani Akalima (45) died in the evening while undergoing treatment. Later, the baby Alif died around 1 am.
Notably, child Alif suffered 90 percent burns, his mother Joli 85 percent and grandmother Akalima Begum 65 percent in the blast.
