Passport can be done without police verification!

However, in a meeting on passport verification at the Prime Minister's office, it was decided to remove the police verification system from the front to get the passport.

A meeting regarding passport verification was held at the Prime Minister's office on February 12 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Gauhar Rizvi. Officials of Passport and Immigration Department and Special Branch of Police were present in the meeting. At that time, after a long discussion, it was decided that there is no need for police verification system in the case of passport application of the people of the country from the front.

In the meeting, most of the officials were in favor of removing the police verification system in the case of passport. At that time, many people said that passport is the right of the people of a country. A citizen who holds a National Citizenship Certificate is also entitled to a passport.

এসময় পুলিশের কয়েকজন কর্মকর্তা বলেন পাসপোর্ট দেয়ার ক্ষেত্রে পুলিশ ভেরফিকেশন না করা হলে অসৎ ব্যক্তিরা পাসপোর্ট পেয়ে যাবে। এমন বক্তব্যের জবাবে পাসপোর্ট ও ইমিগ্রেশন সংশ্লিষ্ট এক কর্মকর্তা বলেন, “সৎ হোক বা অসৎ সকল নাগরিকের বাংলাদেশের পাসপোর্ট পাওয়ার অধিকার আছে। পাসপোর্ট কোনও সৎ অসৎ লোকের সার্টিফিকেট নয়। তা ছাড়া যার জাতীয় নাগরিকত্ব সনদ রয়েছে সেই ব্যক্তি দেশের পাসপোর্ট পাওয়ার অধিকারও রাখে।”

At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Gauhar Rizveer decided to cancel the police verification system for issuing passports. This increases both time and corruption.

However, according to the related sources, this system is still not in operation. It will take another month or two to be operational. In this case, the time to get a passport will be reduced much more than before.
