Rain and Sourav finally decided to study at MIT

The Dhaka Times Desk Many people from Bangladesh want to study in reputed educational institutions of the world due to lack of sufficient facilities. But getting opportunities in these is not so easy. Opportunity is available after passing many stages of examination. Brilliant students of Bangladesh, Rishti Shikder and Saurabh Das have achieved the achievement of studying in 14 famous universities of the world.

Even if they have the opportunity to study in 14 famous universities in the world including Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge University, Stanford University, California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Duke University, they can study in any one of them. Universities are not like giving up on anyone. There are some of them that are like a dream to read. But they both decided to attend MIT based on their preferences and opportunities.

ইংরেজি মাধ্যমে পড়ালেখা করা বৃষ্টি শিকদার ‘এ লেভেল’ পরীক্ষায় চারটি বিষয়ে দেশের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ নম্বর আর ‘ও লেভেল’ পরীক্ষায় কম্পিউটার বিজ্ঞানে বিশ্বের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ নম্বর পায়। এছাড়া ২০১০সালে বাংলাদেশ বিজ্ঞান অলিম্পিয়াডে জাতীয় পর্যায়ে প্রথম, ২০১৩ সালে বাংলাদেশ গণিত অলিম্পিয়াডে জাতীয় পর্যায়ে রানারআপ হয় সে। শুধু দেশেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়। ২০১২ সালে ২৪তম আন্তর্জাতিক ইনফরমেটিকস অলিম্পিয়াডে সে জিতেছে ব্রোঞ্জপদক। সবচেয়ে কৃতিত্বের ব্যাপার বৃষ্টি পেয়েছে ‘বিশ্বসেরা নারী প্রোগ্রামার’ পুরস্কার।

In recognition of his excellence in drawing, public speaking, recitation and sports, he won the Marks All-rounder competition in 2011.

Saurabh Das is no less. He got scholarship in talent pool in 8th standard, got GPA-5 in all subjects in SSC and HSC. Grabbed 31st rank in Chittagong board in SSC.

National Mathematical Olympiad champion in 2011, bronze medalist in International Mathematical Olympiad in 2012 and 2013 and silver medalist in Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad in 2013. Sourav was selected as a special trainer of Vigyan Academy in 2012. Which is a rare occurrence. He works as a trainer and video lecturer for Ramanujan Maths Club.

Computer scientist wants it to rain. He is more inclined towards programming. And Sourav's wish is to stay with mathematics. MIT offers very good opportunities in both. There is a good system of research here. So they chose it for their higher education.
