We have almost forgotten about the sparrows of rural Bengal. This sparrow can be seen in the city as well. Because they love to live in settlements. And so their English name is 'house sparrow' meaning 'household sparrow'. Sparrows usually build their nests in straw, dry grass-leaves, or on the cornices of thatched houses.
Makes a chook chook sound. They are very nice to see. But does not stand in one place for long. Just fly away like a fluke. But they come to quite a locality. Sometimes nesting is seen inside the house. If you want, you can catch them with your hands.
Sparrows hop around all day and pick insects or grain from the ground. The food collection scene is also fun to watch. This bird is also one of our past gods.
