The Dhaka Times Desk From yesterday night, the entry of journalists to Dhaka Medical Center has been suddenly banned. It is reported that the concerned authorities have taken such a decision regarding the clash between doctors and journalists in several hospitals of the country including Rajshahi. However, journalists' organizations strongly protested.
Suddenly, this ban was imposed on the entry of journalists to Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday. According to this new rule, permission must be taken before entering the hospital. In this case, an Ansar member will be with the news worker at all times during the collection of news, the authorities said.
An office order signed by KM Riaz Morshed, resident surgeon of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, further states that the permission of the authorities must be obtained for journalists to enter Dhaka Medical College Hospital to collect information. It was informed that the hospital authorities will not be responsible for any untoward incident if any journalist enters without permission.
It has also been said that the journalists have to collect information only inside the hospital by hanging the gate pass given by the hospital authorities. Also name, address, time of entry and exit should be recorded in the register book.
Meanwhile, journalists' organizations strongly protested the decision of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital authorities. In a protest last night, it was said that the authorities have taken such a fabricated decision with the intention of creating obstacles for the journalists to perform their duties. Journalists strongly protested this and set a deadline for the authorities to withdraw the decision immediately.
