Narayanganj rioted in protest: businessman abducted again

The Dhaka Times Desk In the aftermath of an incident, another incident of abduction took place in Narayanggag. Saiful Islam, a businessman from Sana'a district, has been abducted this time.

The businessman named Syed Saiful Islam was abducted last night, his family complained to the police station. Saiful Islam is the owner of Samia Super Market in Sona Mia Market in Siddhirganj. It has already been alleged that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of Tk 20 lakh from Saiful Islam's family.

Saiful's wife Sabiha said in the GD filed at the Afrin police station that her husband Saiful has not been found since 10:30 on Thursday night. She said that the abductors called her husband's manager Hannan late at night and demanded a ransom of Tk 20 lakh. Since this claim, the mobile phone is found to be switched off.

On the other hand, the businessmen, who are angry about this incident, have closed their shops and business establishments in Siddhiganj since Friday morning and held a protest rally. They block the road. Traffic on one side of the Dhaka-Chittagong road was disrupted due to blockade. Later, when the police came and assured them, the protestors called off the blockade and set a deadline till this evening. Time has been given to rescue businessman Saiful Islam.

Meanwhile, Narayanganj police has deployed all its forces to rescue businessman Saiful Islam. The newly appointed Superintendent of Police told the media today.

It is to be noted that last week 7 people including the panel mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation were kidnapped and killed. Later their half-melted bodies were recovered from Shitalakshya river.
