According to the media, the New Economics Foundation, a private organization in the United Kingdom, has been publishing the list of happiest countries every year since 2006. The list titled 'Happy Planet Index' is created by taking into account various factors including life expectancy, happiness and environmental impact of development activities. This list was published on October 3.

In 2012, Costa Rica ranked first in the list of 161 countries with 89 points. It has been said about this country in Latin America that the country is continuously improving in the human development index. Their position is at the top among Latin American countries. Despite equal per capita income, Costa Rica is ahead of other countries in the region in protecting environmental stability and eliminating inequality.

It is known that it is followed by Vietnam and Colombia respectively. The points of the two countries are 64 and 60.4 respectively, and from the bottom 151, 150 and 149 countries are Botswana, Chad and Qatar respectively.

Bangladesh is at the 11th position in the list with 56.3 points. And Bangladesh's neighbor India's position is 32nd. However, despite sectarian conflict and terrorist attacks one after another, Pakistan is ahead. Their position is 16th. However, there is very little difference in the list of happiness between Afghanistan, which is plagued by war and chaos, and the United States, which attacked them. Afghanistan ranks 109th on the list, while the United States ranks 105th.
