A joint document is being signed between BGB and BGP today

The Dhaka Times Desk A joint document is going to be signed between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) on Thursday.

According to the media, a joint document Joint Record of Discussions is scheduled to be signed in a 4-day long border conference held between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) on Thursday. Bangladesh Ambassador to Myanmar Major General (retd) Anup Kumar Chakma told the media that this agreement will be signed according to the decision taken based on the discussion on various issues at the 4-day long border conference in Napyto, Myanmar.

One of the agenda items discussed is to improve the border situation between the two neighboring countries. The agenda also includes prevention of smuggling of yaba and liquor from the other side of the border, establishing direct (telephone/mobile phone) communication between the commanders of different levels of the border guarding forces of both countries, solving the problem of Bangladeshi fishermen in the Naf River and Bay of Bengal, apart from measures to increase mutual trust. A border conference is being held between BGB Director General and Myanmar's 'Chief of Police'. A delegation of 8 members from Bangladesh under the leadership of BGB Director General Major General Aziz Ahmed has already joined this conference. On the other hand, a 13-member Myanmar delegation led by Chief of Myanmar Police Force Major General Jau Win is participating in the conference.

It is to be noted that recently 1 BGB member was killed due to a misunderstanding at the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. Due to which the tension on the border increases.
