Eugene Gustmann: Milestones in the world of artificial intelligence

The Dhaka Times Desk The computer world has been trying to expand artificial intelligence for a long time. June 9 is a milestone in the computer world. Finally, Alan Turing's artificial intelligence test is a computer program.

Alan Turing's test is known as the Turing Test. He cleared this test in 1950. It's like talking from two separate rooms. There will be people in one room. He will talk and try to understand whether there is a person in the other room or a computer program. A computer program succeeds in this test only if it can fool 30% people in a 5-minute text conversation. That is, they will believe they are talking to people. So far no computer program has passed this test.

But recently a program created by Russian programmer Eugene Gustmann managed to fool investigators with the 33% instead of the 30%. 33% people believe that Eugene is really a man.

It is claimed that this has happened for the first time in history. Such tests were done earlier but the topics or questions were pre-arranged. But in this case nothing was predetermined. This test was run with a total of 5 machines.

Investigators 33% people believed they were talking to a 13-year-old boy. The boy's name is Eugene Gustman. Lives in Odessa, Ukraine.

[Eugene pauses and goes blank]
PP: So can I interview you?
EG: It’s great, we are alike! By the way, I still don’t know your specialty – or, possibly, I’ve missed it?
PP: What did you miss?
EG: I don’t want to tell you about all my deeds. I know you are supposed to trick me.
PP: Why would I want to trick you? Can we start the interview?
EG: You may want what you want 🙂 Just wanted to ask you – what do you know about Ukraine? It’s my native country!

In the recently released movie HER, there is a conversation with a computer program so passionate that one falls in love with it. But the movie was sci-fi. No factual basis. After Eugene Gustman's discovery there is certainly no reason to disbelieve that such a program will exist in the future. Because this program will improve with time. With that, artificial intelligence will go to another level.
