Germany's Thomas Muller scored a hat-trick of goals against Portugal 5 days after the start of the Brazil World Cup 2014. Another hat trick happened on the same day - and that is a red card hat trick! During the match between Germany and Portugal on Monday, Portugal's defender Pepe left the field after receiving a red card in the 37th minute of the match. This completes the hat trick of getting a red card in this year's Brazil World Cup.

Uruguay's Maximilian Pereira received the first red card of the World Cup in the match between Uruguay and Costa Rica on the third day of this World Cup. Just a day later, on the fourth match between France and Honduras, Honduras' Ulson Palacios received his second red card. On Day 5, Pepe was shown a red card by the match referee for sledging as well as hitting Thomas Müller. This is the 13th red card of Pep's career. Pep's red card can affect not only the match with Germany, but also the next match. Pepe gets angry not only at fouls but also at fellow players. Therefore, it is assumed that a 3 match ban may be imposed due to unsportsmanlike conduct.
