Even in this era of bamboo!

The Dhaka Times Desk The news is from a national daily. Although it is a small news, its significance is wide. Because the budget of thousands of crores comes in the development sector. Even then, even during this period, bamboo walls were built. Such news is really surprising!

The news published in a national daily is from Debiganj in Panchagarh district. Thousands of people live in about 15 neighborhoods including Ramganj Bilasi Chilahati neighborhood of Tepriganj Union. As there is no bridge over the river Teesta, the people of that area have to suffer while crossing the river. School and college going students are suffering a lot.

And so a private NGO organization BRAC has come forward to temporarily solve the problem of the crossing of the villagers. Chilahati Para BRAC conducted social empowerment program and started construction of 250 feet long bamboo bridge over Teesta River at the initiative of Palli Samaj. A few days ago, the construction of this bridge was completed and it was opened to the public. While inaugurating the bridge, Tepriganj UP Chairman Golam Rahman, UP member Premananda Das, female member Arjina Begum and BRAC program organizer Rafiqul Islam were present.

The question of the common people of the country where the budget of thousands of crores of rupees is formulated in our national parliament. A bamboo bridge is built over a river where there is foreign funding for development! The news is a shame for us. What will the honorable member of parliament of that area answer?
