Online payment of passport and visa fees for Bangladeshis

The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fees can now be paid online.

Five private banks have launched this service since last Monday. The banks are - Bank Asia, Dhaka Bank, One Bank, Premier Bank and Trust Bank Limited.

According to the sources, initially the banks are providing this service for Agargaon regional passport office of the capital. This service will be introduced in 67 regional passport offices of the country in phases. Before this, however, one had to go and submit the passport and visa fee in person through the state-owned Sonali Bank. This fee had to be deposited only by going to the concerned branch. Now fees can be paid online from any branch of these five private banks.

The five banks signed separate agreements with the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) on December 4 to submit MRP and MRV fees online. Munshi Mueed Ikram, Director of Dhaka Divisional Passport Office in Agargaon said, “The process of online fee submission has started well. Several fees have been deposited in the last two days.”

He also said that this service will be quickly spread across the country, thereby reducing the suffering of customers.

Meanwhile, according to the terms of the agreement with the government, although this service is supposed to be launched across the country from June 16 this year, the service was initially launched only at the Agargaon regional passport office as the passport department could not prepare.

Bank Asia's deputy managing director asked why this service is only focused on one area. Arfan Ali told a news media, "We along with other four banks also started this service from Monday. Initially this service is being provided at Agargaon Regional Passport Office. There were several transactions on the first day as well.”

He also said that this service will be introduced in 67 regional passport offices of the country in phases, in this case the suffering of customers will be reduced to a large extent.

Meanwhile, according to Asia Bank sources, they are also trying to provide this service through agent banking.

It is expected that passport and visa related matters will be much faster than before to give such an opportunity to common Bangladeshis.

Please make the easy way for all Bangladeshi people for making Passport,
Please try to E-Payment system by online throe Credit Card, Debit Card, Paypal, Ect, People no need to go any bank branch,
