The Dhaka Times Desk A small mistake in cooking can make a healthy food unhealthy. There are some common mistakes we make while making 'diet meals' that we are not even aware of. If you can avoid these mistakes, you can easily reduce extra weight with your own food.

In a recent Women'sHealth.com magazine report, world-renowned nutritionist Rania Bataina highlights some of these food mistakes. He emphasizes cooking oil first when it comes to nutritious cooking. Choosing the right oil is very important while cooking. Because the wrong oil spoils the taste of the food and also reduces the nutritional value. This famous nutritionist also said in his report that walnut and olive oil are more beneficial for use in salads. Regarding food calories, Bataina thinks, 'to reduce the amount of calories in food, baking is better than frying'. Also, meat or fish must be baked on a roasting pan or wire rack when cooking in the oven. It will melt the fat and fall down. Baking in a normal pan will absorb all the fat into the food. This excess amount of fat is very harmful for your heart. Moreover, these fats can cause more damage to your diet. Using excess sugar, salt, ghee or buttery ingredients can reduce the nutritional value of food. Many have a tendency to sweeten any nutritious food by over-sweetening it. Overuse of any ingredient can cause harm. At the same time, these elements become the cause of obesity. Nutritious food should have balanced proportions of all ingredients.

Regarding the use of spices in food, nutritionist Bataina said that different types of spices can be used to enhance the taste of food. But it must be a certain amount. Different greens, such as: mint, lettuce or cilantro enhance the taste of food manifold. These herbs are also effective in reducing weight and increasing the nutritional value of food. A popular idea in our country is that cooking with more oil makes food tastier. But Bataina says, use just the right amount of oil to prevent food from sticking to the pan. It is never advisable to use more oil than this.
