However, NDTV reported that the United States announced a reward for the capture of Baghdadi in October 2011.
Citing the United States Department of State, the media said, "In October 2011, a reward of 100 million US dollars was announced on the website for information about the leader of the terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi." This award will be considered for the information which will be helpful in his location, arrest.”
