The first fully Bengali programming language 'Cha Script'

The Dhaka Times Desk Students of Bangladesh created the first computer programming language in Bengali language. This language named 'Cha Script' was created by a group of students of Computer Science and Technology Department of North South University. They are Syed Tanveer Jisan, Arman Kamal, Md. Nuruddin Mansoor and Mursalin Kabir.

Cha-Script is basically the Bengali form of JavaScript. JavaScript is very popular as a web oriented programming language all over the world. Through this, the interactivity of the web design can be increased. In other words, JavaScript is no match for creating various types of orientation, animation, and alert systems in web design. But many people have a problem to understand the different strings, variables of this language. This is an attempt of North-South University to eliminate this problem in Bengali language. 'Cha Script' is made entirely in Bengali from the thought that language should not be a barrier in learning programming. A code editor has been added to this scripting language. The head of this project, Syed Tanveer Jisan, told Prothom Alo that there is a complete tutorial in Bengali for those who are completely new to JavaScript programming. In addition, there are numerous examples for those who are interested in learning practical work. The best part about Cha Script is that it is hassle-free to install. Coding is possible online. There is also a downloadable version available for those interested in coding offline. Nova Ahmed, assistant professor of NSU and supervisor of this programming language, said that 'Cha Script' has been launched as a student project. This will facilitate programming in Bengali by overcoming language barriers.

Although currently there are many types of programming languages, the creators of the new programming language in Bengali said that it will give a new experience to students who are used to using the Bengali programming language. There are many other programming languages in the world. The creators claim that Cha Script can open the doors of new possibilities for Bengali speakers, can take Bangladesh another step towards building a potential digital Bangladesh.
