In the contract with Sahara, it was mentioned that during the contract with them, no star player of the national team can work on any other ad on the team's jersey. But Shakib broke that rule. Shakib Al Hasan recently appeared as a model in a Banglalink advertisement. In the billboard created for that advertisement, Shakib is seen wearing the jersey of the Bangladesh team. This is where you belong to the Sahara Group.
Sahara Group has made it clear that they want to rethink the contract with BCB, because the players of Bangladesh Cricket Board have broken the rules of the contract. Whether the contract will last for four years is doubtful. However, according to BCB sources, BCB has compromised with Sahara after many attempts. In that case there is no possibility of termination of the contract before the full term.
Meanwhile, the BCB has already issued a ban on Shakib, in which if Shakib works in any kind of advertisement, the board must first inform the board. Shakib and other players of the national team can work in advertisements only if the board gives permission.
Notably, the $9.4 million 'sponsorship' agreement with Sahara is the highest amount of money in Bangladesh's cricket history. Before Sahara Group, Grameenphone was the main sponsor of Bangladesh cricket team. And the Sahara Group got involved with Bangladesh cricket for a record amount of money without renewing its contract with the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI).
