However, it cannot be said for sure how long this demand will remain or whether Bangladesh will be blacklisted in the shrimp market by the international organization. Because some unscrupulous traders of the country are freely adulterating the prawns known as 'white gold' in Khulna, these adulterated prawns are going to foreign markets as well as domestic markets.
Foreigners are losing interest in importing frozen shrimp, the country's second largest export, due to some unscrupulous people. The honor of Bangladesh is being undermined, at the same time domestic buyers are also cheating by buying these adulterated shrimps.
A local news media According to the investigation, "Purba Rupsa of Rupsa Upazila of Khulna metropolis, Faltita Bazar of Fakirhat, Battala, Keramat Market, Majhi Para, Chanmari of the city, Aranghata of Daulatpur, Terkhada, Dumuria upazila are pushing illegal items in shrimps. Those involved in this work are locally known as 'Daktar'. They push drugs with injection syringes and get Tk 10 for a kg of prawns. Many unscrupulous traders are buying adulterated shrimps and selling them for export and domestic open market. Legitimate traders are also suffering because of unscrupulous traders.”
Basically, the price of one kilogram of shrimp is 1000 taka, in this case, doctors push 300 grams per kilogram of junk in these shrimps. And as a result, the unscrupulous get an additional price of 300 grams per kg. In this case, they are earning crores overnight by selling 300 tons of shrimp.
On the other hand, it is alleged that the dishonest businessmen manage to pay money to the local police outpost in case of giving these drugs to shrimps. As a result, these traders are adulterating the shrimp.
The countries where shrimps are exported from Bangladesh are Japan, France, Netherlands (Holland), Germany, Belgium, Taiwan, United Kingdom, Russia, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, China, Italy, Mauritius, UAE, Portugal, Austria. , Cyprus and the Demonican Republic. Most of the exports are to Belgium and France.
However, several times these countries stopped importing shrimps due to the push of inferior products from Bangladesh. Many have warned that the country's second-largest export, the shrimp industry, could collapse.
