Rape cases have increased dramatically in recent times. Awareness of girls is important to prevent these rapes. But this time Narsingdi's Achma Akhter has played a special role in preventing rape. Not only does the society accept the rapist as normal, but the rapist gets off with little or no punishment. This is the general picture of our country. But the courage of Narsingdi's Achma was disrupted this time. In the end, the rapist was forced to take the victim home. But this happened with the intervention of the Prime Minister!
Achma Akhtar (22), daughter of deceased Hachen Ali of Kotalirchar village of Sadar Upazila of Narsingdi, is a student of Bengali Department of Narsingdi Government College. Md. Alamgir Munshi (42), son of Tamuz Uddin from the same area, used to harass Achma Akhtar on the way to and from the college. Thus harassed and when intimidation and death threats did not work, Alamgir adopted a different strategy. He lured Achma to marry her and took her to a friend's house in Gabtali area of Narsingdi town and raped her. After about 6 months passed, when Achma pressed Alamgir for marriage, Alamgir kept making various excuses. At one point he made it clear that he would not marry her.
After that, the college girl sought the help of local residents and the police but failed, finally she was forced to rush to the prime minister's office alone to bring the issue of self-conviction to the attention of the prime minister. After overcoming many hurdles, Achma Aktar was able to bring the matter to the attention of the Prime Minister on August 8.
After hearing the entire incident from Achma Akhter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina immediately directed officials in her office to resolve the matter immediately. Prime Minister's PS-2 Shekhar Saheb informed Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Sheikh Rafiqul Islam about the Prime Minister's instructions and immediately directed the officer-in-charge of Narsingdi Sadar Model Police Station to take necessary measures. Narsingdi Sadar Model Police OC (Investigation) Md. Mosharef Hossain Achma filed a case (Case No. 32) on August 11 under Section 9 (1) of the Women and Child Torture Prevention Act 2010 (Amendment/03) against Alamgir Munsi. do
Meanwhile, on the day of the case, the accused Alamgir Munshi was arrested by the police from his business establishment in Madhavadi Bazar. Alamgir, who is in jail, realizes his mistake and agrees to marry Achma through Lok. Achma met him at the jail gate on August 28. There the two agreed on the marriage based on their discussion. After that, Achma approached the court for Alamgir's bail, and when the matter was settled by compromise, the court granted bail to the accused Alamgir on August 31 considering humanitarian aspects. The following day, on Monday, September 1, the marriage of Achma and Alamgir was completed through a notary public in the presence of both parties.
Because of Achma's bravery and the prime minister's immediate directives, lusts like Alamgir were finally forced to give Achma social recognition. It is absolutely necessary to build resistance in this way, just like all oppressed women in the society. Then no one in the society will have the courage to do such a crime.
