The Dhaka Times Desk 9/11-like incidents are feared again. This is because militants have taken control of at least 11 aircraft in Libya.
At least 11 passenger planes have gone missing from a 'militia-controlled' airport in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, according to media reports. Due to which there has been great concern among the western intelligence agencies. And in a few days the 13th anniversary of 9-Eleven. And therefore, US intelligence analysts fear new attacks on Western targets in the same manner around this missing incident.
After nearly a month of bloody fighting, a coalition of Islamist militia groups, Islamic Fajr or Dawn of Libya, took control of the Tripoli airport on August 26, defeating forces loyal to Western General Haftar. This airport, one of the most beautiful and modern in the African continent, was almost completely destroyed in a fierce fight on both sides. Several valuable military-civilian aircraft and helicopters were destroyed. Meanwhile, the Islamist militias took control of several passenger planes belonging to the Libyan state airlines Libya Airlines and Afriqiyah Airways. Most worryingly, 11 of the planes that were destroyed at the airport and were saved have never been found. And this is the reason why Westerners have a headache.
US intelligence analysts believe that the 11 planes disappeared in the implementation of a new attack on Western targets on the anniversary of 9/11, or that the militants who were hiding in the terrorist organization "Dawn of Libya" militia group.
The United States has previously listed the 'Dawn of Libya' militia group as a terrorist organization. They claim that many groups that have ties with Al Qaeda have gathered under the banner of that militia organization. In such a situation, the United States State Department and the Pentagon are seriously looking at the disappearance of so many planes.
