The question of why the two brothers and sisters chose to commit suicide is now circulating among the investigators. What is actually behind it? Keeping that question in mind, the police have started the investigation.
What caused the incident? Depression, drug related issues? Or the separation of parents? The reason for the suicide of two children of a journalist couple in Uttara is not yet known. They wrote a 6-page note in English before committing suicide.
Last Monday at 12:00 pm, from separate 2 rooms on the 5th floor of house No. 11, Gausul Azam Road, Sector 13, Uttara, Jaishree Zaman, senior co-editor of Bangladesh News Agency (BASS), and Chirshree Zaman (18), daughter of journalist Alimul Haque Tipu, and son Mohammad Bin Alim (15) ) body was recovered by the police. After the post-mortem, the two bodies were buried in the Azimpur graveyard yesterday.
Police recovered a 6-page note written in English from the spot. The note was titled 'The Departure'. According to the police, the brothers and sisters committed suicide together due to family turmoil. The police believe that the incident may have taken place after the father's extramarital affair and his depression over marriage and its subsequent affairs.
Citing the investigation officer of the case, the news media said that before the death, the two brothers and sisters left a note in a place where they wrote - 'We are going to such a country and will not return from there.' In another it is written - 'What I have seen, what I have known, no one else will see - will not know.'
It is to be noted that the two deceased brothers and sisters were studying in English medium. Their father Alimul Haque is currently in China. There Alimul Haque worked in Radio Beijing. The parents of the deceased were separated long ago. Alimul Haque Tipu once used to work in Daily Ittefa. He was associated with Diganta TV. Alimul Haque fell in love and married a newsreader while working on this TV. The matter was widely discussed at that time.
Citing police sources, media reported that Chirsree had passed 'O' level and Alim was a student of Class IX. According to the police, the police have known the information about various irregularities in their lives. As the father is out of the country and the mother is at work, they are deprived of the proximity of their parents. Due to which Chirshree and Alim became addicted to drugs. Disappointment sets in between them. At some point, one may choose to commit suicide to get rid of depression.
Jayashree Zaman, the mother of the victims, told the police that Jayashree spoke to Chirshree on the mobile phone around 9:30 pm on the day of the incident. He was out of the house at that time. On returning home at 11:20 PM, he found dead bodies of Chirshree and Alim hanging in two separate rooms. Later, the family informed the police about the matter and the police recovered the body. But the police is still unable to say anything for sure. It is assumed that the matter will be clear after the investigation.
