JMB has accepted responsibility for the murder of Farooqui!

The Dhaka Times Desk JMB has accepted responsibility for the murder of popular TV presenter Nurul Islam Farooqui. JMB acting Ameer Abdullah Al Tasnim alias Nahid, including 7 militants accepted the responsibility of killing the sensational Faruqi during interrogation by the intelligence police.

Seven militants, including the remanded Ameer Abdullah Al Tasnim alias Nahid of JMB, gave important information during the police interrogation. The police had been suspecting Islamist organizations ever since the brutal killing of Noorul Islam Farooqui, a TV religious program host and khatib of the High Court Mazar Jame Masjid. After the arrest of 7 militants including Ameer Abdullah Al Tasnim alias Nahid in charge of JMB, they were remanded and interrogated.

The JMB carried out this murder as part of a plan to attack or kill important people through target killing and religious ideological disputes of the banned Ghoshite organization Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh. 7 militants including JMB in-charge Ameer Abdullah Al Tasnim alias Nahid, who is in remand, gave these important information during interrogation by intelligence police. The intelligence police had already suspected Islamic terrorist groups.

7 The militants also admitted to police questioning that they were inspired by video speeches by Al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri and the success of the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq. That is why JMB and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) have been trying to attract the attention of militant organizations outside the world through target killing.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) chief Monirul Islam told the media, 'JMB has accepted the responsibility of Faruqi's murder. But they have not yet said anything about who and how many people were involved in the killing mission. It is believed that more information will be available if they are interrogated face to face.

It is to be noted that Farooqui was brutally murdered at his home at 174, East Rajabazar, Dhaka on August 27. Detectives have been talking about the involvement of religious extremists since the beginning of the murder. Detective police arrested 7 members of JMB including JMB in-charge Ameer Abdullah Al Tasnim alias Nahid from Tulag area of Tongir in the early hours of last Friday. In 2 cases filed at Turag police station, the detective police are interrogating them by showing them their arrest and remanding them for 2 days.
