Durga Puja ends today with idol worship

The Dhaka Times Desk At the end of the auspicious Vijaya Dasami yesterday, the Sharidiya Durgotsav will end today with the dedication of idols like this year. At 8:23 this morning, the Sharidiya Durgotsav was brought to an end by completing the tenth prescribed puja of the goddess and taking Shantijal after darpan visarjan.

Tapas Kumar Pal, joint general secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udyapan Parishad, said that the biggest religious event of the Bengali Hindu community ended yesterday as Mahanvami and Vijaya Dashami fall on the same day according to Tithi.

Meanwhile, the Vijaya Shobhayatra organized by Bangladesh Puja Udyapan Parishad and Mahanagar Sarvajan Puja Committee will be taken out from Dhakeshwari temple premises at 3 o'clock on Saturday. It will circumambulate the various roads of the capital and proceed to the banks of the Buriganga, where the idol will be dedicated. After that, the idols of different mandaps will be dedicated there one by one.

The Hindu community has been worshiping Durga for ages to destroy demonic forces and gain peace, welfare and prosperity. According to Hinduism, Durga came to the locality at this time with a global auspicious message to establish peace, unity and harmony and suppress evil and observe virtues.
